Confidentiality & Privacy
Upholding your confidence and trust is essential to us at Oak Leaf Manor. That is why we do our utmost to protect each resident’s right to personal privacy and confidentiality. This includes preventing unauthorized access to your personal information, ensuring sensitive information is disclosed only in private and obtaining consent when personal information needs to be shared. Your room is your personal space, so we will always knock and identify ourselves before entering, not take or move things without your permission, and allow you time by yourself if requested.
-
Communication & Family
At Oak Leaf Manor, we ensure that the residents have easy access to their family members and loved ones, and vice-versa. While we make sure to safeguard their privacy, rights, and safety, we want them to enjoy, continue, and, maintain the quality of life and relationships they’ve had before stepping into our community. We promote healthy, stable relationships and friendships here.
-
Social & Community Activities
Oak Leaf Manor supports healthy and stimulating activities to promote and maintain our residents' physical, mental, and social well-being. Some of these activities can be performed individually (ex. painting), while some require social interaction (ex. bingo). While most activities will be within the home or outdoors, (depending on the situation/season), cultural visits or outings can also occur. Residents will always have the option to participate or not participate in these activities if they choose.
-
First Aid & Emergency Response
Older people are more vulnerable to minor accidents, injuries, and illnesses, which can escalate quickly into severe health concern. Oak Leaf Manor safeguards our senior residents' health, safety, and well-being by providing suitable and adequate first-aid materials and equipment, with staff on duty at all times who are qualified in their use. If the situation becomes an emergency, our staff is trained to keep the patient stable while waiting for first responders from the nearest health center.
-
Food & Nutrition
A safe, nutritious, and balanced diet is one of the most important factors in staying healthy. Unfortunately, many elders, especially those who live alone, have issues getting appropriate nutrition and hydration. At Oak Leaf Manor, we ensure our residents receive three (3) home-cooked meals and two (2) nutritious snacks every day, prepared fresh with a high level of food hygiene and with guidance from our nutritionist. These meals can be enjoyed in the communal dining area or served in the privacy of their room (if they prefer). We also make individual meal adjustments for residents who have certain dietary needs/issues, from medical restrictions to cultural, religious, or personal preferences.
-
Order & Cleanliness
A clean and orderly house is a point of pride for Oak Leaf Manor. Common areas are cleaned and tidied regularly, while private spaces are also cleaned after asking permission from the resident. Laundry service is scheduled weekly, and residents are encouraged to dress neatly and comfortably. Trips to the barber or salon for personal grooming can be arranged upon request.
Moreover, since Covid-19, we strive to maintain high levels of disinfection protocols at Oak Leaf Manor. We do this by:
1. making sure “Entry & Exit Sanitation Stations” are in place.
2. making sure all staff maintains high levels of hygiene.
3. making sure we daily freshen and disinfect all common areas. -
Medication Support
Many elderly have a range of medications they need to take for a variety of reasons. At Oak Leaf Manor, residents who have the capacity to self-administer medications are allowed to store and self-administer their own medicine. However, if requested, our staff can assist residents in the scheduling and administration of their medications. We will never administer medication to our residents through force or coercion, or without their express consent. Provisions can also be arranged for the appropriate procurement, storage, and disposal of medication. Please inquire at our office for further questions.
-
Staffing Requirements & Training
At Oak Leaf Manor, we maintain a more-than-adequate staff-to-resident ratio 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We schedule regular training sessions to ensure that our staff are always well-trained, and are always ready and able to help and support residents whenever they need assistance.
-
Safety & Security
We have security and safety protocols in place to provide careful oversight for residents who have some form of cognitive deficit and are at risk of flight. However, as much as we want our residents to feel safe, we do our utmost not encroach on their space—making them feel trapped. Instead, our goal is to make them feel sheltered, anchored, protected, and tranquil.
-
Accessibility & Disability Inclusiveness
As we grow older, we may develop physical, sensory, or neurological impairments that could prevent us from participating in activities or social interactions. At Oak Leaf Manor, we nurture an inclusive environment for all our residents, regardless of disability. Our facilities are equipped for accessibility, and we promote a warm community atmosphere for all our residents and staff.
-
Emergency Evacuation
In case of fire, earthquake, or any other emergency, all exits shall be kept free of obstacles to facilitate a safe and orderly evacuation. Staff are trained to secure the safety of all residents, especially those who need mobility assistance. Oak Leaf Manor follows all required safety regulations and institutes periodic drills of emergency protocols.
